E&P reports that Comedy Central’s faux talk show host Stephen Colbert lampooned (more like harpooned) George Bush in a “blistering comedy ‘tribute’” at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Thesis news

Just to let folks know, I am now working on my final chapter for my dissertation. I will have some revising to do on other chapters, but this is a very exciting time for me. As many of you know, it has been a very looooong haul for me, and a rather painful and agonizing process. I’m excited, scared, thrilled, and starting to see what might come next. I see more writing in Alex’s future....

We attend swim meet in Corvalis

John and I attended John's first competitive swim meet in 20 years this past weekend. John is part of a Masters swim team at the local YMCA—a really, really great group of people. It was great fun, though the chlorine in the air kind of did me in for a while. Whew! John placed 2nd in three different events and had even better times during the team relays. Not bad for an old guy!
